Cath O’Brien MBE

Cath O’Brien MBE is the Director of the Welsh Blood Service, where she has a successful track record in delivering major change programmes. She is also Director of the Wales Centre for Pharmacy Professional Education at Cardiff University and is currently leading the Welsh Government programme team exploring how Cell and Gene Therapy developments could provide improved patient care and economic benefit.

Cath spent her early career as a community pharmacist in Cardiff and South Wales before moving to senior management roles in commercial pharmacy companies. In 2002 she was appointed as the Director for Wales for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and subsequently undertook a range of UK-wide policy development work, engaging with commercial pharmacy companies and academic institutions.

Cath holds a BPharm from the University of London.
