On 2nd July 2018, we marked the launch of our new Strategy, Mission and Vision at the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport.
We were thrilled to host over 250 partners from across the Life Sciences sector, health and social care services and academia who joined us to mark this significant event.

Opening Address
The event saw a packed programme, opening with an address by our Chair, Prof. Sir Mansel Aylward CB, followed by a filmed address by Ken Skates AM, Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport and Vaughan Gething AM, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Services at the Welsh Government.
We were delighted to then be joined by Professor Trevor Jones, who delivered our key note speech.
Launch of the ACCELERATE Programme
Our Chief Executive Officer, Cari-Anne Quinn formally launched our new Strategy, Mission and Vision along with our new ground-breaking programme ACCELERATE, delivered with our partners University of Wales Trinity St David, Swansea University and Cardiff University.
Cari-Anne also unveiled our brand-new Explainer Video.
LSHW Showcase - Supporting the Life Sciences Sector in Wales
We were delighted to be joined by Rachel Russell from Pfizer UK and Ian Bond, CEO of Bond Digital Health who provided background and an overview on their successful work in Wales and background to their collaboration with us, followed by a highly engaging Question and Answer session with the audience.
LSHW Showcase - Cell and Gene Therapy Special Interest Group
Following coffee, we then heard from both Martin Lamb at TrakCel, and Cath O'Brien, Director of the Welsh Blood Service provide an overview of the successful Cell and Gene Therapy Special Interest Group, established by us in 2016.
LSHW Showcase - Digital Health Ecosystem Wales (DHEW) Programme
Later in the afternoon, we were joined by a panel representing partners and stakeholders for our DHEW Programme, for a Question and Answer session, chaired by Cari-Anne Quinn, including;

Closing Address and Reading from 'To Provide All People'
Professor Mark Drakeford AM, Cabinet Secretary for Finance at the Welsh Government delivered our Closing Address and we were thrilled to be able to close with a filmed reading from 'To Provide All People' by Owen Sheers, with Owen personally reading extracts from his new book, providing the voice of personal experience to staff and patients from the NHS over its 70-year history.
