Using this website

This website is run by Life Sciences Hub Wales. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and Voiceover)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and the exemptions listed below.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason: non-compliance with the accessibility regulations.

  • In some instances tables are used in the markup of form inputs. These do not mark layout tables with role=presentation. This fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criteria 1.3.1
  • Some Headings are empty. This fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criteria 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (Level A)

Some of our older PDFs and Word documents don’t meet accessibility standards - for example, they may not be marked up so they’re accessible to a screen reader.

  • Some Figures and images in PDF documents do not have non blank ALT text, except for decorative images which should be marked as artifacts. This fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criteria 1.1.1
  • There is no Use the lang attribute to identify the language of the page. This fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criteria 3.1.1
  • Document title must not be blank. This Fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criteria 2.4.2
  • PDFs are not tagged to be accessible by screen readers. This fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criteria 1.3.1

We plan update all PDF documents in line with regulations by April 2024. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of PDFs meets accessibility standards.
