It was great to attend and present at this year’s NHS Wales Awards, and to witness the exceptional work being done across health and social care in Wales. These awards celebrate not only the dedication and hard work happening across Wales, but also the innovative approaches that are reshaping the future of healthcare. I was proud to present the Sir Mansel Aylward Person-Centred Care Award, which holds special meaning, as it recognises those who are advancing the compassionate, patient-focused care that Sir Mansel championed. Last night (Thursday 24 October 2024), thirteen awards were presented at a ceremony held in Cardiff attended by finalists from across NHS Wales.

NHS Wales Team Culture Award - Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board - Hepatitis C micro-elimination in HMP Berwyn, the UK's largest prison

NHS Wales Timely Care Award - Swansea Bay University Health Board - Improving timeliness around the use of Naso-Gastric tube on an Acute Stroke unit

NHS Wales Whole Systems Approach Award - Swansea Bay University Health Board  - Cwmtawe Cluster: Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Model. This project also took home the Outstanding Contribution to Healthcare Improvement

NHS Wales Workforce Sustainability Award - Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board - Developing a multi-professional learning environment in general practice: Supporting learners today to be the workforce of tomorrow

This marks the sixteenth NHS Wales Awards, hosted by Improvement Cymru, NHS Wales Executive.
