Health Technology Wales has published new guidance that supports the adoption of an assessment tool for people receiving treatment for psychosis and schizophrenia in Wales.

DIALOG+ is a free to use assessment tool which enables people receiving treatment for psychosis and schizophrenia to rate their levels of satisfaction with different areas of life and with their treatment. This is done with the support of healthcare professionals and can then be used to help develop future treatment goals and monitor their progress.

According to Health Technology Wales’s guidance, DIALOG+ has been shown to improve overall quality of life compared with standard care. However, its impact on psychological symptoms, treatment satisfaction and addressing health and social needs is uncertain.

Health Technology Wales found that economic evidence shows DIALOG+ is unlikely to increase overall health and social care costs compared to standard care.

Overall, the evidence supports the routine adoption of DIALOG+ for people receiving treatment for psychosis and schizophrenia in a secondary mental health setting.
