Canolfan Pentre Awel, set to open in Spring 2025, will be a cornerstone of innovation, health, and economic growth in Llanelli, located within the stunning Millennium Coastal Park. The first phase of this 83-acre development will bring together businesses, researchers, and the community in a dynamic environment focused on health, leisure, and cutting-edge innovation.

Integrated Facilities for Research, Business and Innovation

Canolfan Pentre Awel will feature five interconnected buildings designed to support businesses and organisations of all sizes. The business hub offers flexible office spaces starting from 200 sq. ft, with high-speed WiFi, meeting rooms, and scope for 24-hour access. The second floor will include incubation spaces designed to support collaboration and innovation, particularly within the life sciences, health, and social care sectors. There are also planned provision for laboratory spaces on the ground floor, subject to market demand. Future phases will provide a range of assisted living accommodation, establishing a testbed for piloting med-tech services and devices.

Health and Wellness at the Core

The development will also offer a range of healthcare and wellness services, including rehabilitation facilities, a leisure centre with swimming pools, and a gym. It will house healthcare services run by key partners such as Hywel Dda University Health Board and Swansea University, reinforcing its commitment to medical innovation and well-being.

Education and Skills Development Partnerships

In collaboration with leading academic higher education and further education institutions including Swansea University, Pentre Awel will provide opportunities for training, apprenticeships, and research. This will help ensure that the next generation of healthcare professionals is equipped with the skills needed to address future challenges.

Canolfan has projected to create over 1,800 jobs and contribute £467 million to the local economy over the next 15 years. Its strategic location, with excellent transport links to Swansea, Cardiff, and beyond, ensures that it will be a key player in driving regional economic growth.
