Tom’s academic background is grounded in the study of bio-medical sciences, having graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2013. This provided him with a broad understanding of physiological systems, alongside the underpinning drivers of disease in human populations.

Following this, Tom spent time in the Intellectual Property (IP) industry. Additionally, Tom has recently completed a PhD at Swansea University Medical School. This focussed on supporting the translation and commercialisation of Life Science and Health innovation in Wales. As a product of his PhD, Tom developed a tool which supports innovation project audits. The output of the tool permits the creation of bespoke innovation support packages, tailored to the unique developmental requirements of individual innovation projects.

Throughout this period of study and his wider experience within the fields of Life Science and Health, Tom has also built a strong professional network of stakeholders spanning academic, industrial and clinical (NHS) realms.
