Health Technology Wales (HTW) is working with partners in health and social care to support the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This report has been produced to assist the Welsh Government, and Health and Social Care in Wales, in their response to the pandemic.
HTW’s report provides a rapid review of published evidence on the effectiveness of virus and antibody tests to inform COVID-19 diagnosis. It is based on the most recent available evidence at the time of publication but will be updated frequently.
This report aims to identify and summarise evidence that addresses the following questions:
- What is the clinical effectiveness and/or economic impact of tests that detect the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus to inform COVID-19 diagnosis?
- What is the clinical effectiveness and/or economic impact of tests that detect the presence of antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus to inform diagnosis of COVID-19?
HTW Evidence Appraisal Reports aim to identify the best published clinical and economic evidence on health technologies. Researchers critically appraise and summarise this evidence.
Updated literature searches for this report will be performed regularly and any new evidence
materially influencing findings will be included in an updated report.
