VFIs give parents the opportunity to observe and reflect on video interactions with their children and work with a professional to improve the relationship.

It's aimed at improving communication within family relationships and supporting children who are at risk.

Health Technology Wales carries out appraisals of non-medicine health and social care technologies and publishes national guidance on their use in Wales.

According to Health Technology Wales guidance, the evidence supports the adoption of VFIs to support children and their families who are at risk of or are suffering harm.

Health Technology Wales's research found that VFIs have led to improvements in parental sensitivity, parent-child interaction and attachment.

Meanwhile parents who used VFI reported improvements in their parental confidence and in their family relationships.
