The Wales Cancer Biobank is a project that aims to collect samples of blood and tissue from patients throughout Wales who are having operations where cancer is a possible diagnosis. These samples can then be accessed by researchers for cancer research, and the WCB can also provide technical services such as creating tissue microarrays or collecting microscope images of cells.

The Wales School for Social Prescribing Research is led by researchers at the University of South Wales, and aims to research and evaluate social prescribing programmes.

The Wales Gene Park is funded by the Welsh Government through Health and Care Research Wales, and is hosted in Cardiff University. The Gene Park supports and promotes genetic and genomic research across Wales, aiding the implementation of the Welsh Government’s Genomics for Precision Medicine Strategy. In addition, the Park provide bespoke sequencing and bioinformatic analysis to biomedical research scientists

The Wales Cancer Research Centre is based in Cardiff University and is funded by Health and Care Research Wales. The centre supports research by developing the cancer research strategy for Wales.

The Tritech Institute is a med-tech innovation facility within Hywel Dda UHB that offers healthcare companies services including research, evaluation, advice and access to university partners.

SABRE Cymru is an interdisciplinary network that is focused on research related to infectious disease outbreaks.

PRIME Centre Wales is a research centre focusing on primary and emergency care, funded by Health and Care Research Wales in order to develop and coordinate research proposals and support researchers.

The IHCC is an all-Wales programme of work that bring together health boards and NHS Trusts to promote and facilitate international health partnerships.

Health and Care Research Wales promotes and supports health and social care research in Wales, including by running funding schemes and engaging with UK level funding agencies.

Genomics Partnership Wales supports the delivery of precision medicine within NHS Wales through genetic and genomic technologies.
