To explore Innovation in Health and Life Science across the Irish and Celtic seas, the CALIN are hosting a hybrid event in February 2023.

In June 2022, the Welsh Government hosted the Irish Sea Symposium, which recognised that innovation in Health and Life Science is a key area of strength where there has been previous success across the Irish and Celtic seas.

Innovation in Health and Life Science has also been identified as one of three priority areas in a proposed ‘Framework for co-operation across the Irish Sea space’, which Welsh Government are developing with the Devolved Governments of Scotland and Northern Ireland, to promote a new phase of joint working.

To explore this further, the Celtic Advanced Life Sciences Innovation Network (CALIN; www.calin.wales) are hosting a hybrid event on Tuesday 28th February 2023 aimed at:

  • Exploring shared interests in the Health and Life Science sector across the Irish and Celtic seas.
  • Identifying key areas of need within the Health and Life Science sector, which the Framework for Irish Sea Corporation could prioritise.
  • Determining proactive strategies for taking forward a new phase of future corporation across the Irish and Celtic seas.

The workshop will be opened by Geraint Green from the Welsh Government, followed by talks from stakeholder communities across Ireland and Wales. This will be followed by focused breakout groups to discuss where the future priorities should lie, and how to achieve a united approach that will build upon the long history of co-operation and support sustainable growth.
