Innovation Directory – Wales

RPBs have been established as part of Welsh Government's Social Services and Well Being Act to improve the well-being of the population and improve how health and care services are delivered in their region. The Gwent RPB covers the same area as Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

The Regional Innovation Co-ordination (RIC) Hubs form a national network funded by Welsh Government. These Hubs sit within the local Health Board and work to enable the Regional Partnership Board's transformation programme and complement the Regional Integrated Fund (RIF) focussing on innovation infrastructure and activity helping to integrate health and care services. This Hub is situated within the Gwent Regional Partnership Board.

GX is a product design consultancy who offer services to the medical and life science sectors to develop products such as diagnostic devices and laboratory instruments.

Haelu is a start-up technology company based in Newport, Wales. Haelu have developed a digital platform for community-led preventative care which integrates existing data to allow health and social care workers to identify individual needs in the community.

Haemaflow develop products to support people with lung disease or damage. The company is 100% owned by Haemair Ltd, but trades independently. Haemaflow’s products include a pulsatile blood pump, devices to improve blood transfusion, a point-of-care rheometer to assess the propensity of blood to clot and a non-contact analyser to determine the concentration of species within gas mixtures or dissolved in liquids without taking a sample.

Haemair is a developer of medical devices centred around blood and lung care. Products developed by Haemair include an extracorporeal Life Support system, a compact blood oxygenator, a low haemolysis pulsatile blood pump and a device for treating the comorbidities of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Acute Kidney Injury.

Hardshell is a defence and medical equipment manufacturer and supplier. The company provide PPE such as face masks and gloves, and also provide market access planning services to pharmaceutical companies.

Health & Her supply nutritional supplements for women suffering with menopause or peri-menopause. Health & Her also have a mobile application featuring a symptom tracker and learning resources.
