The Swansea Bay City Deal is an investment of up to £1.3 billion in a portfolio of major programmes and projects across the Swansea Bay City Region. City Deal programmes and projects are based on key themes including economic acceleration, life science and well-being, energy, smart manufacturing and digital.

Local health boards are responsible for planning and delivering NHS services in their areas. Swansea Bay University Health Board is responsible for providing NHS, health and wellbeing services in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, as well as some specialist regional services.

The Swansea Trials Unit (STU) is a UK Clinical Research Collaboration registered Clinical Trials Unit who offer methodological advice and support to clinical teams, both in designing new trials and in applying for grants. The STU is funded by Health and Care Research Wales
