Innovation Directory – Wales

The Regional Innovation Co-ordination (RIC) Hubs form a national network funded by Welsh Government. These Hubs sit within the local Health Board and work to enable the Regional Partnership Board's transformation programme and complement the Regional Integrated Fund (RIF) focussing on innovation infrastructure and activity helping to integrate health and care services. This Hub is situated within Cardiff and Vale Regional Partnership Board.

Local health boards are responsible for planning and delivering NHS services in their areas. Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is responsible for providing NHS, health and wellbeing services in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

The Cardiff Capital Region City Deal is a programme of collaborative working, committed to being the catalyst for regional growth and sustainable success in Southeast Wales within multiple fields, including FinTech, Compound Semi-conductors and MedTech

Cardiff Edge (managed by Pioneer Group) is a life science R&D site situated in the North of Cardiff which provides serviced lab space and offices for companies to rent.

Cardiff Healthcare Innovation (CHI) is a design and development company for medical and research device prototyping.

Cardiff Medicentre is an incubator for biotech and Medtech startups. It is a joint venture between Cardiff & Vale UHB and Cardiff University.

Cardiff Metropolitan University is attended by around 22,000 students split across five schools: Art and Design, Education and Social Policy, Management, Sport and Health Sciences, and Technologies.

Cardiff Scintigraphics is a provider of gamma scintigraphy services to pharmaceutical and medical device companies, which are used in the clinical evaluations of pharmaceutical formulations and devices. Services offered by CSL include the design, performance and analysis of scintigraphy studies.

Cardiff University is Wales's only member of the Russell Group of research-intensive British universities. The university is attended by around 34,000 students and includes the Cardiff University School of Medicine. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework, the university was recognised as a centre of excellence for psychology, psychiatry, and neuroscience.
