Funding announced for tech which could destroy cancers and predict disease

Health Technology Wales announce that millions have been invested in eight innovative companies behind lifesaving new medical technology. These innovative devices could destroy liver cancer tumours, detect Alzheimer’s, and quickly spot those at risk of stroke. Funding will be used to fully assess how effective this cutting-edge tech can be, and to support its potential roll out for patients across the UK.

Latest round of funding launches for NHS Cancer Programme

NHS England is set to open a new round of funding for innovation in the early detection and diagnosis of cancer. The ‘Innovation Open Call 3’ is designed to facilitate the integration of innovative solutions into frontline healthcare settings, alongside addressing key implementation evidence gaps.

Digital Medicines Transformation Portfolio celebrates progress in transforming the prescribing, dispensing and administration of medicines in Wales

Innovative digital solution enhancing clinical insights for robotic-surgery available across Welsh Health Boards

CMR Surgical’s Versius Clinical Insights will capture data from surgical procedures to provide a detailed evaluation of a surgeon’s performance. Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board are the first healthcare organisations in the world to have access to this new cutting-edge tool.

M-SParc, Wales’ first science park, is tackling climate change and aiming to be the first NetZero Science Park in the UK by 2030. Having already established its carbon footprint over the past year, the roadmap to NetZero is now in place and M-SParc is in the delivery phase. The company has ambitions to lead the way not only regionally but nationally on the rote to NetZero.

First robotic hysterectomy completed in Wales

The first robotic hysterectomy in Wales using the Versius robot has taken place at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. This is thanks to the implementation of the All-Wales Robotic Assisted Surgery Programme, which has been developed in partnership with Life Sciences Hub Wales, health boards across Wales and the Moondance Cancer Initiative.

The ARCH Innovation Forum will again open its virtual doors in early 2021 and offers a platform for presenters to engage with a multi-disciplinary panel of experts from academia, NHS, and industry.

A Networked Data Lab to be Established in Wales

Public Health Wales, in partnership with the NHS Wales Informatics Service, Swansea University and Social Care Wales have been selected as one of five of The Health Foundation Networked Data Labs. They will receive up to £400,000 over two years to form a community of analysts working on the biggest health and care challenges.

As part of the very first Wales Tech Week, Digital Health Ecosystem Wales introduces the brand-new beta version of the NHS Wales Developer Portal. It’s designed to make it easier for developers to understand requirements and test prototype solutions for NHS Wales.

£150,000 awarded for digital solutions in response to Covid-19

Five digital health initiatives have been awarded funding as part of a £150,000 call to action for new and innovative ways to use digital technology in response to coronavirus and beyond. The call to action was coordinated by Digital Health Ecosystem Wales, a collaboration between Life Sciences Hub Wales and the NHS Wales Informatics Service (NWIS).

£150,000 competition for Covid-19 digital solutions – now open!

Welsh Government have announced a new funding competition for digital solutions to help fight Covid-19. The competition is being supported by Digital Health Ecosystem Wales and funding is available for between five and eight projects to rapidly pilot products and solutions.

NHS Wales and ABPI launch new collaborative toolkit

The Association for the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) Cymru Wales has partnered with the Welsh NHS Confederation to launch a new toolkit to promote the pharmaceutical industry and NHS Wales working together for patients.

Digital Health and Care Congress 2019

On the 22nd and 23rd of May 2019 the DHEW team exhibited at the Digital Health and Care Congress at the Kings Fund in London. The event brings together leading NHS and social care professionals to discuss how data and technology can improve the health and wellbeing of patients and the quality and efficiency of services.
